Power Mac G5 with Apple Cinema HD Display Awesome AGP 8X Pro.
The AGP 8X Pro graphics interface doubles the maximum transfer rate — and doubles the amount of data transferred in a single AGP bus cycle — and gives the hot new GPUs from ATI and NVIDIA the bandwidth they need to deliver cinematic-quality 3D graphics.

Your eyes pick out the little things first — things you never noticed before in 3d graphics. Things like highlights on falling snowflakes while you march in the Ardennes, spray from a wave reflecting golden sunlight as you carve through it, or particles floating in shafts in light as you decend into a dungeon. You might see such things vividly in close-up in real life or at the movies all the time, of course. But never on a computer screen — at least not in such spectacular detail.

The 66MHz AGP 8X Pro bus strobes eight times per clock cycle, giving you a 533MHz data rate and a maximum bandwidth of 2.1GBps. This dramatically enhanced performance drives graphics-intensive applications to astonishing resolutions, with lifelike texturing for the most immersive visual experience.

Standard configurations of the Power Mac G5 come with the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra or the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, both with 64MB of video SDRAM. Both cards offer support for the latest in graphics technology, increased horsepower for faster and smoother gameplay and the most advanced graphics programmability for stunning special effects. And in case you’re wondering, programmability is a critical advantage because it allows next-generation games and professional applications to use the graphics chip as a processor. This both offloads computations from the computer’s main processor and allows for infinite effects with the nuances of real-life images.

The GeForce FX 5200 Ultra features the CineFX engine and NVIDIA’s advanced Lightspeed Memory Architecture II for photorealistic 3D graphics in games and visualization applications. The Radeon 9600 Pro visibly upgrades your graphics performance with a quad-pipe architecture, SmartShader 2.0 technology and HyperZ III+ memory architecture to push the performance envelope in high-end design applications.

For over-the-top graphics that saturate your senses, choose the optional ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, an AGP Pro card and the fastest and most visually advanced 3D graphics accelerator on the planet. The industry’s only cinematic Visual Processing Unit (VPU), the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro’s turbocharged 256-bit DDR memory interface and 8-pixel pipeline combine to deliver production studio-caliber graphics — in real-time. Perfect for intensive 3D modeling tasks and for equally intensive next-generation games.

Radeon 9800 Pro With highly programmable shader engines and OpenGL feature sets, the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro visual processor brings the most detailed worlds to life with movie-quality lighting, textures and effects.

The ATI Radeon 9800 Pro’s SMARTSHADER 2.1 rewrites the rules for realism with its 128-bit floating-point color precision, enabling hyper-realistic imagery to be displayed with billions of color variations. And with its eight parallel rendering pipelines, a 256-bit wide memory interface and support for the AGP 8X standard, this card delivers tremendous performance at the highest resolutions and detail settings.
Apple Displays
Apple flat-panel LCD displays
Choose from the first family of all-digital flat-panel displays. Apple flat-panel LCD displays give you image quality, vivid color and the industry’s best wide-viewing technology — all at affordable prices. With a compact footprint that doesn’t take up too much valuable real estate on your desk, an Apple display lets you enjoy the benefits of thin and light LCD technology — with twice the brightness, twice the sharpness, and twice the contrast of a standard CRT display. You can calibrate an Apple display for color-managed workflows, and rest assured it will maintain consistent color and quality without frequent recalibration.
ADC and DVI connectors
Dual-display support
The Power Mac G5 comes with an Apple Display Connector (ADC) port for connecting an Apple display, and a DVI port for a second digital display — with support for both extended desktop and video mirroring modes.
DVI to VGA Adapter Connect to VGA displays
An Apple DVI to VGA adapter is included for connecting to VGA displays, such as CRTs or projectors. The optional Apple DVI to ADC Adapter enables you to connect your Power Mac to two Apple displays (including two 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Displays for an amazing 3840-by-1200-pixel resolution — that’s more than 4.5 million pixels, but who’s counting?).

DVI to ADC Adapter
Connect with S-video and RCA (composite) connectors
You can also order a new adapter designed specifically for the power Mac G5, the Apple DVI to Video Adapter. This new connector works only with the DVI port on each of the graphics cards designed for the Power Mac G5. It allows you to preview your wok by connecting to S-video and composite devices — like TVs, VCRs and overhead projectors — with S-video or RCA (composite) connectors.
